2021 Netherlands: New salary thresholds announced for Highly Skilled Migrants
The salary thresholds for Highly Skilled Migrants, Intra-Corporate Transferees and EU Blue Card holders have been announced for 2021. The new thresholds are applicable for new applications or extension applications received by the Immigration Authorities (IND) as of January 1, 2021.
As of January 1, 2021 the gross monthly salary thresholds will be as follows:
- Highly Skilled Migrants and Intra-Corporate Transferees of 30 years and older: EUR 4.752;
- Highly Skilled Migrants and Intra-Corporate Transferees younger than 30 years: EUR 3.484;
- Highly Skilled Migrant graduates from a higher Dutch educational institution or from one of the designated universities from the top 200 ranking lists, employed within three years after graduation: EUR 2.497;
- EU Blue Card applicants: EUR 5.567.
The above mentioned gross monthly salary thresholds are excluding the mandatory 8% holiday allowance.
Please note that despite the salary thresholds, remuneration for Highly Skilled Migrants, Intra-Corporate Transferees and EU Blue Card holders must always be in accordance with market standards. The salary must also be agreed upon in the employment agreement, guaranteed and paid out structurally every month to a bank account on the name of the employee.
